This particular work features fabric sourced from three distinct obi sashes, each exceeding 100 years in age. These rare textiles, once part of Japans rich tradition of kimono

The use of selective focus wasn’t just technical

because of the common function of the mosque as a place of congregational prayer

it also reflects the solitude that can come from experiencing such beauty without the ability to share it with others
