Vintage Kokeshi #3

Vintage Kokeshi #318 inch beautiful Togatta vintage kokeshi doll. Signed by the artist, Syouji. A typical trait of a Togatta kokeshi is the straight cylindrical body, large head with narrow eyes. The top of the head is painted with radial curving lines from the forehead down the sides of the cheeks. The body has hand painted gorgeous flowers. She is a beauty! Tall kokeshi are difficult to acquire so shes a treasure.

This is a Maru obi which are usually made of heavy fabrics such as silk brocade

The shepherd is in a light brown kimono with a darker brown belt and carries a staff

She has a natural wood body faded to light blue with a scene of snow topped roofs and falling snow

slightly weathered but still beautiful with a flower design

The ease of styling a Maru obi is that is is patterned on both sides with no blank portions

This is a Fukuro obi with the pattern on one side covering about sixty percent of the surface
