John Velten is from the Lower Mainland region of BC with Dene and German Canadian heritage, both ancestries having heavily influenced his life and work. John spent two years apprenticing with Alano Edzerza and then another year with Rick Adkins. John uses the Northwest Coast formline style to narrate his life and also express his experiences, stories and emotions
