We've cut a number of these spindles, and the grain pattern and characteristics vary from piece to piece. We take photos of each individual piece, so please look carefully to inspect the piece you are choosing. Mesquite characteristically has wavy grain with occasional knots. Some of these pieces

This block has all of its bark -- it's a little loose and would need securing with CA glue if you want to keep it all
