Orca Mini Bentwood BoxBentwood boxes are made from steamed Western red cedar planks. Planks are grooved in three places, steamed, bent at 90 degree angles, and then snugly fitted into a grooved base to create a watertight and seamless structure. Bentwood boxes are unique to Northwest Coast Indigenous cultures and are used for both ceremonial and everyday functions. This bentwood box features an Orca design by Coast Salish artist Shain Jackson. Orcas are matrilineal animals
